This Friday evening, the sixth day of Ligue 1 opened with a great clash at the Meinau Stadium.
Hosts Strasbourg, winners of four of their first five league games this season, hosted Roberto De Zerbi's OM, fresh winners of the French classic against Psg.
The match began in torrential rain; the first half was very intense and mainly controlled by the Marseille side. De Zerbi's team had several chances, boosted by one of the most in-form players at the moment, Timothy Weah, author of a fine shot parried by Mike Penders (8′).
Liam Rosenior's Strasbourg did not succumb to the pressure, reacted immediately and was stopped by Emanuel Emegha's offside (17′) and the centimetres that separated Valentin Barco from Diego Moreira's cross (20′). Towards the end of the first half, Marseille regained control of the game, but Amine Gouiri wasted a lot (30′, 32′). The two teams went to rest tied.
The second half was characterised by a completely different pace of play and very soon the scenario changed completely.
Emanuel Emegha's cross found Abdoul Ouattara who opened the scoring (1-0, 49′). At this point De Zerbi decided to play the Greenwood, Aubameyang and Emerson cards. The results did not take long to arrive. OM scored the equalizer thanks to the Gabonese star (1-1, 78′) and this did a lot of good, especially for the morale of the Marseille players, who at this point wanted a draw at all costs. Thanks to the fresh forces brought in by the new arrivals, they pushed to take the lead, first through Greenwood (88′), and were then rewarded in the dying minutes. After Robinio Vaz's rebounded goal, Amir Murillo pierced Penders' net with his left (1-2, 90+1′).
OM has provisionally taken first place in the league table.
