Standing on the Horizon of History: The Light of the Saints in the Thought of Benedict XVI

At the Diocesan Agora of the Principality of Monaco, during the presentation of the volume dedicated to St. Antiochus, which was donated to the community, a page of rare spiritual intensity signed by Pope Benedict XVI was read out.
A reflection that doesn't just comment on holiness: it illuminates it.

“Saints are like stars on the horizon of our history, constantly radiating light into the world amidst the clouds of our time, amidst its darkness, so that we can see something of God's light. And if at times we are tempted to doubt God's goodness because of the vicissitudes of history, if we are assailed by doubt even towards man, because we do not know if he is good or rather intimately evil and dangerous, if we even doubt the Church because of the controversies and miseries that trouble her, then let us look to these men who opened themselves to God, to these men in whom God took form. And from them we shall receive light again.”
Pope Benedict XVI
